Geocache Virginia
where should I go east of the Mississippi and south of Virginia?

I am starting in West Palm Beach, FL and going to New Orleans, Wichita, and really have little other plans. we have 11 days to just roam around and want to stay in the general vicinity of the SE portion of America. what should we do? keep in mind we prefer smaller roads, intend on doing some hiking and camping, and want to Geocache all along the way! antiquing and big balls of yarn, and the like, are desired as well! thank you kindly..

Start in Front Royal, Virginia and travel south on the Skyline Drive, which joins the Blue Ridge Parkway, all the way to Cherokee, North Carolina. This would be about a 600 mile trip through some of the most beautiful contry in the eastern United States.

Stop at every campground on these roads, see every sight along the way, hike every trail that’s provided and you’ll never want to return to Florida. I could name every sight to see, but Yahoo wouldn’t like me to take up that much space. You will see historic sites such as, the James River and it’s early canal system. You can climb to the summit of the highest mountain east of the Mississippi, Mt. Mitchell at 6,684 feet.

The Appalachian Trail crosses these roads several hundred times. You can park and hike this trail for a few miles or a few hundred yards.
